Ink, Hair, Liquor
Multi-media installation
In the village’s traditional culture, both papermaking and writing were exclusively male-dominated activities. However, today, the papermaking workshops and the preservation of local culture are run by a women’s community. Inspired by this shift, I created handmade paper using hair from female artists, treating hair as a form of organic fiber akin to plant material. Using this as a medium, I developed a series of small experimental installations where hair became a symbolic substitute for ink—traditionally a male-dominated symbol in ancient times. In this series, long hair transformed into ink, brushes, and even wine, reinterpreting objects that were once privileges reserved solely for men.
